About this product

Georgia buyers get the same new-release CZ as everyone else, with specs laid out straight and nothing padded. The DUTY 4.0 is a striker-fired 9mm built around a serialized internal chassis, so the fiberglass-reinforced polymer grip frame is a modular part rather than the registered one. Order it as the C compact or the F full-size, and pick the MS version if you want a manual thumb safety added to the three internal safeties.

Both sizes share a 4-inch barrel without threads, fixed sights, a 188 mm overall length and a slim 33 mm width. The compact stands 135 mm tall at 770 grams and feeds 15+1, or 17+1 with the extended base plate; the full-size is 143 mm and 780 grams with 17+1, or 19+1 extended. The slide takes a red dot directly, and the SFDA trigger pulls about 5.6 pounds with a 4 mm reset. Suggested retail is $729.

Compact means 15+1 rounds in a frame 5.3 in (135 mm) high. Fit the extended floor plate and it holds 17+1. At 27.2 oz (770 g) unloaded it sits between a pocket pistol and a full-frame gun, which is exactly where a carry-and-bedside 9mm belongs.

This version has no external safety lever. It relies on three internal safeties, firing pin block, trigger safety and trigger bar safety, and the trigger is the same as on the MS model. Shooters who prefer a lever should pick the MS.

Three things define the DUTY 4.0. First, a serial-numbered modular chassis: the serial-numbered part is inside, the grip module around it is modular. Second, the trigger, a striker SFDA rated at 25 ± 4 N (5.6 ± 0.9 lbs), 0.16 in (4 mm) reset, 9 ± 1 mm (0.4 ± 0.04 in) travel, which is short and repeatable for a service pistol. Third, a direct-mount optics-ready slide, shown by CZ with Holosun, Aimpoint and Shield dots fitted, so a dot sight sits low without a stack of plates.

Best fit: daily carry, a bedside gun that also rides along, and new shooters who want one pistol for everything. Shooters coming from a CZ 75 will recognize the grip angle; shooters coming from any other striker gun will notice the trigger first.

Order the pistol here and enter the FFL dealer you want it sent to; many Georgia buyers pick a shop near home, but any dealer in any state that accepts transfers works. The dealer receives the box, completes the paperwork and applies the rules that apply where you live. Confirm their transfer policy ahead of time so pickup goes smoothly.

Frequently asked questions

How heavy is the full-size compared to the compact?
The F full-size weighs 780 grams and the C compact 770 grams, so the difference is only about 10 grams; the real change is 8 mm of extra grip height and two more rounds.
Which red dots fit the slide?
CZ's launch photos show Holosun, Aimpoint and Shield optics mounted directly to the slide, with no adapter plate in the pictures.
Does the CZ DUTY 4.0 C take CZ P-10 magazines?
CZ lists the DUTY with its own 15-round magazine and an extended base plate for 17+1. P-10 magazine fit is not confirmed, so plan on DUTY magazines.
Is the compact easy to shoot?
It shares the 4-inch barrel and slide with the full-size gun, so the sight radius is the same. Only the grip is shorter.
